How to remove Joomla RSS and Atom feeds from header?

I’m using a Yootheme template, J 2.5 and EasyBlog (as frontpage component.

I cannot figure out how to turn off the RSS and atom feeds in joomla. I read about going to menu manager > parent menu > advanced > turn off feed – However, that option does not exist. I’m not sure if that’s because I’ve set my home page as an EasyBlog category. Anyways, Google Web Master tools keeps giving me a 505 error for the atom feed – because we don’t have one.

Remove/disable default RSS Atom Feeds in Joomla

In my header (page source) I see this:

<link href=”/categories/home-news?format=feed&type=rss” rel=”alternate” type=”application/rss+xml” title=”RSS 2.0″ />
<link href=”/categories/home-news?format=feed&type=atom” rel=”alternate” type=”application/atom+xml” title=”Atom 1.0″ />

Where can I manually remove these two feeds? I don’t see anything in modules or plugins. Thanks.

Just for a little more clarification, if you want to disable RSS feeds for a section or category (like the default homepage), you do so by editing the menu item in the Menu Manager.

For example, if you wanted to remove RSS from your homepage, you would click Menus -> mainmenu, click “Home” (or whichever item has the default star”, on the right click “Parameters (Advanced), select “no” for “Show a Feed Link”, and then click apply. Go back to your homepage, and make sure there is no little icon indicating an RSS feed.

It’s about menu configuration. Here is step-by-step:

1/ Go to Joomla Backend > Menus > Main Menu

2/ For example, we need to get rid of default RSS Feeds in the home page > click on Home.

On the right side, we can see: Parameters (Advanced) box. Turn off “Show a Feed Link” and Save/Apply.

3/ Repeat the previous step for another menu items.

We have disabled Joomla default RSS Feeds now.
